Dog Days of Summer

Phew- it sure is hot!  We are officially in the dog days of summer, but even though its hot we have been busy, busy, busy!  Lots of weddings, rehearsal dinners and reunions, baby showers, bridal showers and much more!  If you have an event coming up and would like to have it here call us!  615-563-6455.

We had the wonderful privilege to have Tennessee Crossroads come and do a special on us.  Thank you to everyone who came out to make their TV debut and supported us last Friday.  We will be posting the air date as soon as we know!!

We still offer our fresh ground cornmeal, grits and whole wheat flour.  All products are certified organic and available in 3 pound bags.

Lots of changes have been taking place at the Mill!  Goodness Gracious Cafe and Catering bought and moved into the Readyville Mill 2 months ago and couldn’t be happier!  The Fords also own The Corners on the River in Readyville which offers a venue for wedding, showers and groups.  Just a 15 minute drive from Murfreesboro; come and unwind in the country. The Mill is available for private events, weddings and groups.   The new hours are Thursdays from 10am-2pm for breakfast and lunch and Friday and Saturdays from 8am-2:30pm and 5pm-8pm for dinner.   Have you seen the gorgeous spring flowers?!?!?  For a small donation they welcome photographers to come and capture memories in our picturesque setting.  Hungry??  Have you tried the cinnamon swirl pancakes!?!? Mouth watering!  Need some organic fresh ground wheat, cornmeal or grits?  We grind onsite and have bags for sale.  Come see us this weekend!  You will be glad you did.

From the Millers Table too

From 1973-1976, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Carrigan were the proud owners of the historic Readyville Mill.  During that time period, Mrs. Carrigan wrote a cookbook that she called “From the Miller’s Table.”  One of our guests recently visited the Mill and brought a copy of that cookbook for me to see.  The title has been in my head ever since.  I hope that Mrs. Carrigan will not mind if I use her title for the name of this, my new Readyville Mill blog!  It is done in complete respect and to honor her for her self-publication of a beautiful cookbook long before self-publication was the norm rather than the exception!

We hope that the clients and customers who turn into our driveway to find their childhoods, to teach their children and grandchildren how things used to be done, and to taste the old tastes of freshly ground cornmeal and grits.  We are providing for them a journey back to a simpler day, nostalgia, history, and a respite from the hectic work a day world in which we all now live.  Walk by the river, sit on the porch, pick up a freshly ground bag of meal.  Stay as long as you like.  Smile at the sun shining on your face and the cool breeze blowing across the back of your neck and the children clambering all around the old mill truck.

If any of you wants to host an event at the Mill, you have only to check with us about your dates and the number in your party.  If you have a sudden urge to throw a wedding, a recommitment ceremony,  a class reunion, a corporate retreat, a birthday party, our doors are open and you can have full use of the facility, both inside and out.  We are also available to cater your meal.

Call us at 615-563-MILL (6455).  Drop by anytime the gate is open.  We’ll be there, taking care of the Mill.  Can’t wait to meet you!  See you soon!
